Nippon Kodo's Natural Ash forms a barrier between the hot charcoal coals used to burn some incense, and the incense burner. It prevents the burner from getting hot. It can also be used to stand some traditional long, thin, incenses up in a small heat-proof dish. This makes a beautiful presentation. This ash is also used in Japanese Incense Ceremony. It is rice chaff ash (Kouro-bai). It comes in 95 gram (3.4 ounce) packages.
